Common Sense Railroaded

The refurbished rail line to service North Creek and Gore Mountain opened last summer and has been a pleasant success. Passengers enjoyed summer fun, bright foliage, and now, comfortable access to the ski trails. The rail company is now seeking approval to open 15 more miles of existing track to service special metal mines in that area. This would greatly help local economies. Environmentalists, preservationists and forever wilders are in opposition. Reaching back to railroading is progress. These narrow minded groups are, once again, standing in the way of progress. As to their concerns: there are hundreds of thousands of untouched acres of existing pristine wilderness now in the Adirondacks. The tracks once were in use and are there still in place. Ore cars would replace the multitude of ten-wheelers and vastly reduce exhaust pollution. Highways would be safer without those huge trucks. Skiers using the train are reducing the number of cars on the road with the same benefits of not using trucks. Trains replacing cars and trucks consume far less fuel, reducing dependence on oil and gas. It is simple and it makes sense. Don't let the idiots stop it. ----Grandpa Gordon

Occupiers

The Holiday in Lights display in Albany, NY's Washington Park was severely vandalized two nights before Christmas. This annual event supported by many corporate sponsors, raises money for the Police Athletic League for youth programs. The Occupy Wall Street fools were allowed to break the 11:00 PM curfew in Academy Park for several months. They erected tents and started living there with unsanitary conditions and disruptive behavior. When Mayor Jennings finally changed his mind, the curfew was enforced and the protestors went raucous. Not surprising, a couple of nights later the Washington Park event was attacked with 30 thousand dollars with of destruction. In the beginning the Occupy Wall Street crowd was protesting corporations and their, so called, greed. They added the police to their enemy list after being forced to obey the laws of the city. The vandalism in Washington Park was directed at the donated corporate displays in the shadow of darkness. Hundreds of electric lines were cut to hurt the efforts of the PAL. In truth, the hundreds of youngsters that are served by the programs of the PAL are the ones that these idiots hurt the most. This was not a spontaneous act of teen-age vandalism. It was calculated, well planned and had all the proper tools in place. If not the crazy occupiers then who? ------ Grandpa Gordon

How much is fair share?

Annual government figures from 2010 show that the top 1 percent of the wage earners in this country earn 16 % of the total annual income. Yet they pay almost 38 % of the tax burden. The richest 20% of all wage earners pay 80% of the total federal tax burden. Almost 46% of the working population pay no federal income tax at all. That leaves the 44% of the middleclass workers paying the remaining 20% of the taxes. Fair share is a lot of BS. Every earner should pay a share. If they did, they would be more concerned about what goes on in Washington and vote to get rid of the big spenders. Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich to help reduce the deficit. Baloney! Cut out the spending by reducing the size of our huge un-neccessary bureaucracy and over-reaching entitlements. Vote the spenders out! Time is long overdo for term limits. Term limits will cure most of the ills in government. Elect candidates who will work for the people. We need a fair share of them. -------Grandpa Gordon

Frankly

Yesterday Barney Frank announced that he was retiring at the end of his term next year. With what he has done to damage our country and economy makes this move about thirty years too late. As the congressional head of the banking commitee and in charge of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae he destroyed the fiancial community and brought about the Wall Street collapse. He forced banks and lending institutions to provide mortgages to people who did not have the ability to maintain their monthly payments. How could this have happened? Number one - He lied to investigators. Number two - He and Chris Dodd were protected by the major media. The media of liberal bias, agenda driven and a strong desire to see this coutry become socialistic with a government by the government and of the government. Good-bye freedom.
Barney for years has received special media treatment. When it was revealed that his homo-sexual lover was running a male prostitution ring from his Washington home, the press almost completely ignored the story. If that had been a Republican whose wife was madame of a whorehouse in D.C., the media would have driven him from office within days. Disgraced Republicans resign. Disgraced Democrats use it as a career enhancement. Just look at Bill Clinton.
In the coming elections, Barney would have been thrown out of office. He is resigning to avoid that humiliation. Frankly, no matter how, I am happy he will be gone. - - - Grandpa Gordon

Pro Football Idiots

Tonight will be the last NFL game of the long thanksgiving weekend. I enjoy these games, but I do not enjoy the celebrations by some players after a touchdown or a sack. A reciever scores on a pass play and goes into an ego driven dance and chest pounding. I find that disgusting. These guys are paid millions to do what they do. What is so great about doing what is expected of you? A defender sacks the quarterback and goes into a similar routine. Isn't he paid to do just that? I would like to celebrate every time one of these rectal openings drops a pass or lets the quarterback complete a pass for a huge gain. Maybe they should celebrate that by giving some of their money back to the fans and the owners. I believe that excessive celebrations are punishable by fines. They should do that with all ego enflamed celebrations. Catch the pass, score the TD, make the sack and shut up! --------Grandpa Gordon

Term Limits Again

More disgusting news from Washington. Entrenched legislators are being identified as a type of inside traders. It is reported that they buy stocks and then enact legislation to benefit the companies of their stock purchases. On Wall Street this would be a criminal offence. Term limits would wipe out, or greatlly reduce this criminal behavior. Career politicians work to be reelected.They do not work for the people or the good of our country. They pander to special interest groups for votes and do not take care of the nations business and best interests. Limited terms is the answer. The founding fathers did not envison career senators or congressmen. The idea was that a patriot would want to serve his country for a term or two and then go back to his chosen career. This mess we have in our federal government is because too many poiticians have been in office much too long. Many state and local governments are in that same condition. It is time to send those, who do not know enough to leave, home. Vote them out! I will not vote for another candidate who will not vote to impose term limits and honor that commitment. The Unions Again!

The U.S. Postal Service is preparing to shut down the small post office in the NYS village of Alplaus. This 90 year old post office is independently operated under a contract with the USPS. It offers almost all of the services of the traditional offices, maintains 56 private boxes and does not employ regular postal workers. This quaint little office serves the postal needs of the community and is the daily social gathering place. It is important to note that, unlike the regular postal service, this private contract enterprise, has operated at a profit for the past ten years. So, why are they shutting it down? It is being closed because of a demand by the American Postal Workers Union in their new contract settlement. Remember them the next time the price of your stamps increase.
It was only a little over a year ago that the railroad workers did something similar. The refreshment car on the trains between Albany and New York City were poorly staffed, poorly stocked and poorly run. So badly, in fact, that the Amtrak decided to eliminate them as a big money loser. The passengers now had nothing on the two and a half hour journey. Along came Subway. They contracted to operate the food service cars and provide the passengers good variety and service. This became a very popular enterprise and Amtrak was reaping a profit. Alas, the railroad had to pull the cars out of service and break the contract with Subway because of Railroad Worker Union demands. You will find nothing to eat or drink on your trip and you won't find a Conductor, either, after he checks your ticket. They hide somewhere up front. It's in their contract.

Crossing Bridges

Recenly, in order to gain support for his second huge stimulus package, President Obama said that there were over 500 bridges in this country in serious need of repair and in danger of collapse. As a person who travels by automobile several thousand of miles yearly, I requested from his administratiion a list of these bridges. My request went unanswered. This is, most likely, more lies and scare tactics to foist another multi-billion dollar deficit package of stimulous on the country and drive us further into debt. The first one did nothing to create jobs or improve the economy. It did, however, save labor and public employee jobs and create huge contributions from union leaders to Mr. Obama's campaign chest. Taxpayer money, laundered to help him gain a second term. When asked when he would fess up and tell the truth to the American people, Mr. Obama stated that he would cross that bridge when he came to it! God help us. ----Grandpa Gordon

A Newsy Day

Todays newspapers featured the voting results of yesterday and the continual assault on Herman Cain with charges of sexual harassment. There are comparisons to Bill Clinton and his accusers and, of course, the Lewinsky affair in the oval office. Elections and erections! What a news day.
Overlooked was the Obama executive order of a seasonal 15% tax on Christmas trees. Oops, Holiday trees. One must be politically correct. More damned nonsense! Watch out. Foreign Policy

Presidential candidate, Herman Cain, met with former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, to discuss foreign policy issues in preparation for the next candidates debate. Today, Madeline Albright, SOS in the Clinton administration, was miffed that Cain did not meet with her. Why in the world would anyone want to get advice from her? She has got to rank among the very worst of our Secretaries of State. Cain could have, also, met with Colin Powell and Condoleesa Rice, both outstanding and knowldgeable performers. But Madeline? My God, Pee Wee Herman could have helped him more. The major media in this country is out to destroy Herman because he is one of many that could bring consevatism back to the White House and get America back on the right track. Use your head, maintain your balance and don't believe what you learn from the major newspapers and ABC, NBC and CBS. Try Fox News,you'll hear and see both sides. It's only money

Our country is drowning in debt and our President doesn't care. He is taking Air Force 1 around the country almost every day at a huge cost. He claims he is informing the people of his jobs plan. Why not a press conference that would reach thousands more and cost the taxpayers nothing. The reason is that he combines these trips with fund raising events for his next election campaign As many as three in one day! God knows with his terrible record, he will need all the cash he can obtain. But this is done at the taxpayers expense. It is not only unfair, it borders on criminal. And, get this! Hillary and the State Department spent $70,000 of our dollars to Give Obama's Book (Dreams of My Father) as gifts to other world leaders. This White House cares little about our national debt. Obama gets the profits from the book. He is on a trip alright and soon we'll all be underwater and it won't be from that stupid global warming haox! --- Grandpa Gordon

No Military?

The mob of protesters in New York City decrying Wall Street greed have trouble explaining their purpose when questioned. MRC news asked some about reducing the budget of the military by 50%. One young lady replied it should be cut 100%. She stated that: Then we could no longer attack helpless countries overseas. I wished I were there to ask her-- What should we then do with the women and children when a Russia attacks us on the east coast and a China attacks us on the west? What are our schools and colleges teaching these young people? They simply do not have a clue. We are in an Obama mess. The Tea Party has their work cut out to bring this country back. In a recent fund-raising speech President Obama said that he wanted to bring this country back to being number one. We were before he was elected. ---Grandpa Gordon

Relections

Sunday. A perfect October day it is. Warm and sunny and the air is clean and crisp. For many a day of worship and a day to reflect. A day to be positive and a day to hope for better times to come. I attended church, recieved some inspiration from Reverend Mark and chatted with cousins and friends. Driving home I had a positive feeling and an optimistic hope for our country. Then a curious thought elated me. ----As each and every day rolls by and history is recorded, I grow more and more proud that I didn't vote for Barack Obama! ---- Grandpa Gordon

Add On

In the last blog about NYS Agencies ordered to have forms in six foreign languages, they must also provide interpreters. Another crazy expense in a time of budget crisis. I believe that in our Constitution, in order to vote, you must be able to speak and understand English. This helps you to be able to cast your ballot, but also, helps you understand the issues and the candidates. It makes sense to me. Too bad that Andrew Cuomo doesn't know that.
On the left coast in liberal California, elementaty schools had one class each, of English and Spanish speaking students. Two classes and two teachers for every grade. Much added expense. One community went against the rule and combined the classes for English only. My favorite part of this story is when a little Mexican girl was asked how the first year affected her. She related that , at first it was difficult, but soon she was having fun learning and speaking English. And she said, that best of all, she had a whole bunch of new friends.-----Are you listening Andrew and the rest of you mis-guided liberals?

Plain English

NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo today issued an order requiring all state agencies to add six foreign languages to all official forms. This will cost our cash-strapped state well over a million dollars to implement. Not only is this a poor time for such expence, it is a stupid idea. It would be far cheaper to teach the newcomers English. A majority of Americans want English as the official language. Cuomo and many other politicians pander for votes from ethnic groups by not requiring knowledge of our language. Our great country grew to be the envy of the entire world because all newcomers learned English and became members of the American society. They came to be proud Americans and were far better able to pursue the American dream. Why change what has worked so well for over 200 years? Incidentaly, the Italian speaking Cuomos are now all fluent in English. Including Andrew!

Matthews Media Folly

Chris Matthews of MSNBC  is known as a staunch liberal who makes outlandish comments about republicans and consevatives. The Tea Party Patriots are continually in his cross-hairs. He has labeled all   of them terrorists. If I thought he had the least bit of intelligence, I would verbally attack him. But, he is obviously a fool. In 2008 Matthews stated that when he listened to Barak Obama speak, he felt a tingle or thrill running up and down his leg. Now that is what I call serious idolization

What's a Carney?

One of the highlights of summertime in my youth was when the carnival came to town. The carnival had a country fair-like set up with exciting rides, side shows, games of chance and interesting dining delights. There were corn dogs, hoagies, cotton candy and soda pop. The carnival was in town for a few days up to a week. The carnival workers were called carneys. Parents warned their youngsters that the carneys were not to be trusted. Carnival time was the only time of the year that houses were locked when no one was to be home. 
The purpose of the carnival was fun and entertainment. The job of the carneys was to separate you from large sums of youe money. They relied on illusions and falsehoods to entice you into a game of chance or a side show. The truth was a concept never employed by a carney. They made their living telling lies and misleading the listener.
Isn't it ironic that we now have a Carney working in the White House as the spokesman for our President? Jay Carney! And, he fits the role of a carney to the TEE.

Borderline

The three most serious threats to our nation are the deficit, terrorism and illegal immigration. All, in a way, related. Illegal immigration drains billions of our taxpayer dollars annually adding to the deficit. Our uncontrolled southern border is a pathway for terrorists. In a recent year, 1798 illegals were apprehended that came from countries that sponsor terrorists. And, that was only a small portion of the illegal border crossers. Why, after many years has our government not strengthend and closed down the border? It is an almost open pathway for drugs, gangs, terrorists and others to illegally enter. The answer to that is simple. Too many of our elected officials pander for the Latino votes. To them, party power and re-election are more important than the United States Constitution. Both parties are guilty, but the democrat liberals are, by far, the biggest perpetraters. These legislators who vote against efforts to control the borders and for amnesty are not upholding their oath of  office to follow constitutional law and protect the American people. In any sense of the word they are traitors.
I have a simple and quick solution to this very serious problem. Have the Department of Justice arrest one or two of these traitorous legislators. Try them and convict them and give them some good old military justice. The seven man firing squad! With our huge deficits, it seems that twelve live bullets and two dum dums would be a frugal way to go. And, it would most likely, bring all the other legislators back to following the Constitution and protecting the American way of life. Memorial Day Vow

Taking off to the time share for a week. Just relax and rejuvenate and put the problems of deficits, crumbling foreign relations, bad European economies, middle east turmoil and Chinese agression temporarily out of mind. Instead, I suggest that all take this Memorial Day weekend to reflect on what is and has been good about our country. How people came here and started with nothing to work and build successful lives and families. How are Founding Fathers Gave us liberty and freedom and a Constitution that allows this nation to grow and develop. How we correct our problems like slavery when thousands and thousands gave their lives in the Civil War to bring freedom and  citizenship to those oppressed. How we as a nation rallied in 1918 and again in 1941 to save the entire world in the two great wars. How we take care of our neighbors in times of disaster both here and abroad. We are the most generous nation in the history of the world. How through invention and technology we have gone beyond all imagination to better the lives of all.
Let us take this Memorial Day to vow to bring this nation back to the intention of our forefathers and to the greatness we were. Back from an entitlement society to a ""by my own bootstraps mentality." We must vow to elect leaders who will follow the constitution, put American back on course and not pander to special interest minorities seeking votes. Vow to find these leaders. Vow to elect them. Embarrassing

Yesterday, on a European tour and on the road again, our President and his wife, Michelle, were invited by Queen Elizabeth to a formal dinner at Buckingham Palace. In his address to those assembled, Mr. Obama without his teleprompter, had to read his remarks from notes held in his hand. I,as an American, found this very embarrassing. When it became time for him to offer a toast to the Queen, he requested everyone to stand. With glass in hand, instead of looking at the Queen, he had to look down and read his brief toast from his notes now on the table. Not only embarrassing, but rude!
The biased major media in this country continually tells us how smart President Obama is and how dumb his predecessor, George W. Bush is. I want to tell you that our corrupt media organizations have this one completely "bass ackwards!" ----Grandpa Gordon

Obama Give Back

In 1967 some Arab nations launched a war against Isreal. The war lasted six days. Isreal had the enemy in full retreat and  in the process secured  additional territory. As a result of the victory the Isrealis kept some of the land that they had won. Yesterday in his speech, President Obama said that in order to have a peace agreement, Isreal had to return that land to Palestine. How rediculous! Isreal was attacked and they deserve to keep what they had won. Mr. Obama, Isreal is a friend and an ally. Palestine is terrorist. What nonsence!
In colonial days the British attacked the colonists in the Boston area, The colonial militia beat back the red coats and we secured Massachusetts. Under Obama's theory we should return that state to England. On second thought, maybe that is not such a bad idea!-----Grandpa Gordon

Protesting

Today groups of concerned parents and teachers are holding protest rallies at the Capitol in Albany. They are very upset at the large size of the cut in education spending. Teaching staffs are being reduced, support workers are being laid off and, most important, student activities and sports are being abolished. I heartily agree with these protesters. It would be far better to further reduce the bloated state work force. I use the word work jokingly. Ther just isn't enough work for the number of people that are hired by the, too many, state departments. This is evidenced by people standing or sitting around, arriving late and leaving early and taking three day weekends. There would be huge savings in downsizing the departments and privatizing state jobs. Our schools do need much improving but, cutting funding is not an answer. Isn't it ironic that the elected officials doing this cutting were highly endorsed and heavily funded by the teacher and public employee unions.We do need to reduce spending and balance the budget. Most importantly we need to lower taxes to make our state competitive and encourage families to stay and thrive here. Selfish unions and poiticians relying on union donations need to go bye bye.-----Grandpa Gordon

Not so good news

Over the weekend I read that Albany School of Law graduated almost 300 new lawyers and that Ellis School of Nursing graduated 27 new nurses. What is wrong here? God knows we are over run with lawyers and that there is a tremendous lack of nurses.
Our Country Has a multitude of drastic issues, both at home and abroad. Included are: huge deficits, high un-employment, the shrinking dollar, high gas prices, floods and tornados along with an invasion of illegals and drugs.Overseas we have the war on terror, unrest in the middle east and hostile nuclear nations. Ignoring all of this, our President takes Air Force One to El Paso for a fund raising dinner to benefit his 2012 re-election. There he went into a comedy routine mocking the Republicans desire to seal our southern border. He lied about the miles of fence that had been built. He lied about the number of troops on the job. He, jokingly suggested a huge moat filled with alligators. I wonder how this made the border residents feel who have had family members murdered, property destroyed and contiually living in fear? Perhaps Obama should be on Saturday Night Live or Comedy Central. He sure as Hell does not belong in the White House. 2012 is the time to get him out of there, if not sooner.-----Grandpa Gordon

The Three Gets

Andrew Cuomo, the new Governor of NYS, announced that the multi year renovation to the state capitol building had been reduced by two years. This would save the taxpayers millions of dollars. With his insistance  the contracters found ways to get the job done. This reminded me of the old days when there were three GETS in the contracting business -- GET in, GET done and GET out! Then along came the unions. Longer consruction time meant more money for the workers and the unions. An example: bricklayers were limited by union rules to lay a specific number of bricks each day. Most skilled masons reached the limit before the lunch break. They had to, however, remain on the job till the day was done. Sitting and doing no work. Before the unions, jobs were completed faster at less cost. Ridiculous isn't it. Back in the days of sweat shops, unions were needed and served a good purpose. Today these mob-like unions are hurting the country. It is way past the time for a change.-----Grandpa Gordon

College Problems

A couple of items in the morning news were interesting and thought provoking. Two lacrosse teams, the U-Albany women and the Siena men earned their way into the NCAA tournaments. The initial games are scheduled for May 15th. This is the same day that both institutions are having their 2011 commencements. The Senior students on these two teams will be unable to attend their own graduation excercises.
The other story was about college students becoming stressed out the last weeks of April cramming for their final exams. Little wonder! These young adults are attempting to master twenty weeks of information in eleven weeks of actual instruction.
Each year college tuitions are going higher and higher. College semesters are shorter and shorter with a long holiday break in December and January and the traditional spring break in March. World technology is advancing daily. Leaders are advising that our students at all levels need more intense education to compete in the modern world. Many are calling for longer elementary and high school years. Yet college training days are constantly growing shorter and more expensive. Some thing is drastically wrong here.
Are college sports running too long into the semester? No, college semesters are running too short. I, frankly, do not know the answer to this problem of higher costs and shorter instructions. I will offer that somewhere in all of this there are teacher and proffesor unions involved. How simple is that? ---Grandpa Gordon

Certificate of Birth

Yesterday, Barak Obama finally released a copy of his birth certificate. This had been an issue since Hillary Clinton questioned it in the 2007 primary campaign. Immediately following it's release, many questioned why the President had waited so long in producing it. I submit; How long does it take a bunch of clandestine characters and a group of corrupt agencies to produce a counterfiet document?
Mr. Obama hoped that this would put the issue to rest because this country has many serious problems and he had many serious things to do. He then, headed immediately to NYC to attend three serious fund raisers for his re-election campaign and then to a serious appearance on the Oprah Show. Is he serious? Yes, this country has very real problems and I believe he is one of them. Don't bother. they're here,----Grandpa Gordon

The White House In Crowd

Two and one half years ago Barak Obama became President of the U.S. He made his numerous appointments of Secretaries and department heads and, something new, czars. He grew the deficit over another trillion dollars. He and his crowd have kept unemployment at a high level, our credit rating is in danger of crashing and our foriegn policy is laughable to the rest of the world. He refuses to allow drilling of our own oil resources. Gasoline is now over four dollars a gallon causing prices of almost everything we need to increase. This crowd has no solutions or plans to remedy the situation. Instead, Obama has gone on a money raising campaign trail to get re-elected in 2012. This in crowd is driven by socialism to fundamentaly change our country's greatness and our proven successful way of life. The only solution they have given is to raise the taxes on the wealthy. We are not introuble for lack of revenue. Why are we in trouble? It's the spending stupid!
                        I was hit with this thought that was heaven sent.

Wednesday I listened to President Obama speak about our country's Huge deficit and his ideas on how to reduce it in the coming years. It sounded more like a campaign speech. I remembered an old song that went "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing." In this case the swing is: sincereness, common sense and truthfulness. His speech didn't mean a thing, 'cause it didn't have that swing. Beware America!  ---Grandpa Gordon

Oil & Disenchantment

Yesterday, I learned from TV, that President Obama, during his visit, told the President of Brazil that the U.S. would be Brazil's best oil customer. That we would buy as much of the oil from their off-shore drilling that they would be willing to sell. This is the same Barak Obama that shut down our own gulf oil operations in a time of serious need and put some twenty thousand people out of work during a time of high unemployment.

On that same TV news program, I learned that Michael Moore, the liberal truth-stretching, rabble-rousing film maker, lashed out at President Obama. Remember that Michael was a strong supporter of Mr. Obama. Moore wondered how a President who had won a Nobel Peace Prize could continue to leave American troops in Iraq, continue the war in Afganistan, keep Gitmo open and authorize the bombings in Libya.
\Michael, let me explain. Mr Obama assumed the role of the U.S. presidency. He moved out of the dream and fantasy world of yours and your poor mis-guided Hollywood cronies into the real world. A world where you have the freedom to spout and produce your rediculous nonsense. He learned that freedom isn't free. That it must be protected and fought for as it was from the beginning by our forefathers. Oppresed people have reached out for help from the free nations of the world. The UN and President Obama have answered their call. He is doing the right thing.
Michael, you get what you elect. Live with it!

Hillary Clinton's Decision

After assuming office, Barak Obama surrounded himself with czars and advisors and, made his appointments to his cabinet positions. Most of these had unknown or questionable capabilities. Their track record,so far, is dismal.

                    She announced that her political career would soon be over.
                    Because, being incompetent is surely no bed of clover.
                    She has mumbled and fumbled as the Secretary of State.
                    Making herself and our nation seem the opposite of great.
                    At the end of this term she now plans to depart.
                    That's the first thing since starting she's done that is smart.
                    Our nation now has suffered a most terrible fate,
                    'Cause she made this decision exactly three years too late!

Wearing of the orange

I enjoy college sports and, because of it's proximity, am a big fan of Syracuse University. Many of the colleges with successful winning programs recruit scholar athletes. Syracuse, however, recruits mainly athletes.On any given Saturday the team can play an exceptional game and have an exciting win. Then the following week, play terribly and have a bad loss. Which explains why they chose orange as the school color. Upon completion of their college careers, these players can attend Syracuse games in their orange jerseys with fellow alumni on Satudays. On Sundays they can wear them to go hunting. And, they can wear them the rest of the week picking up trash along the roads and highways. ------- To be honest, I got this concept from a book of humor by the author Bob Phillips.        Enjoy your day, Grandpa Goron

Gitmo Stays Open

Barak Obama vowed to close Guantanamo (Gitmo) because, he said, that it enflamed our Muslim Jihadist enemies and served them as a recruiting tool. What folly! If he wants to close things that create their ire, he needs to shut down every, church, chapel and temple in the entire world. The people of other religious beliefs either need to become Muslims or, according to the Jihadists, killed. Their stated goal is to erase all other religions from the earth. Obama believes that closing Gitmo would end this holy war. What a fool!                    By the way, he didn't close Gitmo and he has reopened the trial process. What do you make of that?

God is making a point

March 7, 2011 - Large parts of the northeast suffered a severe ice storm followed by several inches of heavy snow. God is letting the world know that nature controls our climate. It is his response to the folly of man-made climate change and global warming. The earth has been warming and cooling for eons for many natural reasons. The global warming hoax was perpetrated by Al Gore and others who planned to benefit fiancially by forcing changes in society. Others hoped to gain politically by putting more control over the populace.
Actually, scientific data shows that the earth has. once again, begun a cooling cycle. Good-bye Al Gore and thanks be to God!

NFL Football. What about the fans?

Will there be asettlement or a lockout in the NFL contract negotiations? The owners made nine billion dollars in profits last season. The already well-compensated players want more of that nine billion added to their salaries. The owners wish to add two more games in the next season for additional revenue. Both parties are saying "show me the money." It is time for some considerstion of the third and most important party - the fans. Ticket prices have already reached the breaking point. Many fans can, no longer, afford to attend a game with their families. The revenue from the two new additional games should be used to lower the price of tickets. If not, the fans should walk out! --- Grandpa Gordon

Oil & gas

Gas at the pump is approaching $4.00. Bush and Cheney are at it again. Wait a minute! Bush and Cheney are gone. The liberal media is silent. Our economy is driven by oil. We can, no longer, rely on foreign supply.It is time to drill here and drill now. Shout it out, so that they hear it in Washington DC. Our economy and our defensive security are at extreme risk. We need our own oil and gas!
Speaking of gas. President Obama said that the Libyan leader Gadhafi should step down because he has lost the legitimacy to lead. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
Then a couple of days later, Hillary Clinton repeated that Gadhafi had lost his legitimacy to lead and that he should  leave his post as the leader of Libya. This is the same Hillary that kept her husband in the American presidency after he disgraced the office by having oral sex in the oval office. Legitimacy to lead?
If  hypocricy was gas, it would be ten cents a gallon. Stay informed and let your voice be heard.
